Chapman University

The maestro of Chapman's tennis dynasty during the 1980s, Edles recruited and developed dozens of players that would put Panther tennis on the national scene. He succeeded, leading Chapman to four CCAA titles and NCAA Division II championships in 1985, 1987 and 1988. The Panthers were also national runner's up in 1986. From 1982-88, Edles coached nearly a dozen All-American tennis players, including Miles Walker who won the 1988 national championship in singles and Barry Hancock and Paul Wekesa who won the 1987 doubles national championship. Edles was named NCAA Division II Coach of the Year in 1986 and 1988.

After his success at Chapman, Edles moved on to Cal State Hayward where he coached men's tennis and then Boise State's women before settling in at UC Irvine, where he coached the women's tennis program 1997-2017. In 2012, Edles' national championship teams from the 1980s were enshrined in the Chapman Hall of Fame.
