A two-sport star for Chapman's basketball and baseball teams pre-WWII, Peterson was inducted to the Hall of Fame perhaps just as much for his contributions to Panther Athletics long after his playing days. He was a stalwart supporter of Chapman's athletic programs, a founding member of the Chapman Athletic Foundation and member of the Chapman Athletic Board, Hall of Fame Committee and countless coach search committees over the years. He helped start Chapman's athletic endowment fund and supported all of our teams not only financially but as an advisor as well.

Chapman's loveable mascot "Pete the Panther" was named after Peterson in 2007.
