A key member of Chapman's rise to become a national basketball power in the late 50s and early 60s, Decker helped the Panthers to the NCAA Regionals as a junior and to the national tournament in 1958 as a senior, defeating Fresno State in the regionals. Known for playing consistently on both offense and defense, he paired with fellow hall of famer Ezra Van Horn to create a "skyscraper" front court on a team that ranked as high as No. 7 in the country.
