Chapman University

A team captain and senior four-year starter on Chapman's 2003 national championship team, Taylor is the school's all-time Division III leader in hits (254) and stolen bases (53), while ranking in the top-five in Panther history in six other offensive categories. He was a three-time ABCA All-West Region selection while serving a variety of defensive roles, including catcher and all three outfield positions, but spent the majority of his time at second base. A consistent left-handed presence at the top of Chapman's lineup, he wrapped his four-year career batting .367 (second among all four-year CU Division III players) with 44 doubles and 174 runs scored and posted a .965 career fielding percentage.

He saved the best for last, earning career-highs in batting (.397), extra-base hits (22), RBI (44) and on-base percentage (.466) during Chapman's national championship season in 2003. The captain was also named Most Outstanding Player at the Division III national championships after hitting .500 (13-for-26) with two doubles and seven RBI in the tournament. He was named the Association of Division III Independents Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2003 and earned Chapman’s Don Perkins Leadership Award.

Taylor played three seasons of minor league baseball from 2004-06, including two with the Gary Southshore Railcats of the Northern League, where he was again an ultra-utilityman playing every defensive position except pitcher. He helped the Railcats to a Northern League Championship in ’05 and was named to the Railcats’ 10th Anniversary Team in 2011. As a pro he hit .264 with five homers and 60 RBI in 196 career games.
