ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team had a strong second half but couldn't overcome a slow start in a 15-9 loss to visiting Kenyon on Friday. The Panthers scored eight of their nine goals in the second half.

Chapman turned the ball over 12 times and managed just five shots while Kenyon was successful on all six of its clear attempts and scored 11 goals on 15 shots. Senior Alexandra Callaway scored Chapman's lone goal of the first half to make it 3-1 with 19:14 left. However, the Ladies scored eight unanswered goals to end the half with the 11-1 advantage.

The second half was a completely different story with Chapman doubling up on Kenyon – outscoring the Ladies 8-4. They whittled the deficit down to just five goals when freshman Marie Hartfield converted a free-position shot to make it 13-8 with 4:27 left but that would be as close as they would get.

Sophomore Aisling Roberts and sophomore Meg Hanson each had a pair of goals to lead the Panthers. Junior Taylor Hextrum made four saves in the second half to add to sophomore Jamie Wendt's three saves in the first.

The Panthers head out to Cal Lutheran tomorrow before finishing the first round of SCIAC play at home against Whittier on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
