Women's lacrosse dominates in non-conference victory

Twelve different Panthers scored in the rout.

ORANGE, Calif. – The first non-conference matchup of the year ended in a dominant 24-5 victory for the Chapman University women's lacrosse team. The 24 goals were scored by 12 different players.

In less than a minute and a half, Madi Escobar won three draws that turned into three Panther goals for a quick lead. Zoey Stephens was one of those goals and went on to score a first quarter hat trick to lead the Panthers to an 8-1 lead in the first quarter.

Georgia Geagan also scored a hat trick in the game while Ada Carr added two goals and four assists. Hailey Manzo scored once and also had four assists after coming off the bench.

Chapman dominated the match with 24 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers while just turning the ball over nine times. Emerson was just 2-for-10 on clear attempts as the Panthers kept the defensive pressure on. The Panthers outshot the Lions 38-9, held a 24-5 draw control advantage and were a perfect 7-for-7 in free-position attempts.

Chapman heads to Redlands on Saturday and returns to Wilson Field on Tuesday at 4 p.m. to take on Edgewood.
