Women's lacrosse falls to No. 13 Pomona-Pitzer

Zoey Stephens scored four of the Panthers' six goals.

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team fell 16-6 to No. 13 Pomona-Pitzer. Camila Gabrian made 12 saves for the Panthers.

Gabrian has started her career with back-to-back double digit saves after making 10 against CMS on Saturday. Zoey Stephens scored four of the Panthers' six goals on the offensive end.

The nationally ranked Sagehens started the match with a 4-1 run over the first 11 minutes. Tade Scheid added a goal near the end of the first quarter to cut the lead down to two at the end of the quarter.

Scheid then assisted Stephens on the first goal of the second quarter as the Panthers pulled within one. Pomona-Pitzer responded with the next four goals to pull away although Chapman got two back before the end of the half.

The Sagehens held Chapman scoreless in the third and slowly built their lead into double digits to pick up the midweek SCIAC win.

Pomona-Pitzer was able to get to the line 12 times for a free position and converted seven into goals.

Chapman plays at Cal Lutheran next Wednesday at 7 p.m. before returning home to take on Occidental on Saturday.
