Box Score ORANGE, Calif.— It was a special night for the Chapman University men's soccer team (5-5-3, 4-3-2 SCIAC) celebrating eight seniors on Senior Night as it lost 1-0 to Pomona-Pitzer (7-7-1, 3-5-1 SCIAC).
The seniors are listed in numerical order:
Isaac Storms,
Connor Kilde,
Leo Wells,
Grant Shaw,
Peter Hyan,
Winston Ivory,
Nikita Dreizin and
Benji Leonetti.
There was plenty of action in the match despite the 1-0 outcome as both teams had at least five shots on goal and 10 fouls. Chapman pressed towards the Sagehens' half of the field late in the second half, getting multiple shots on goal and back-to-back corner kicks the final three minutes of play.
It may not have seemed like it at the time, but Pomona-Pitzer's Aidan MacLennan scored the game-winning goal in the fifth minute.
Chapman played Pomona-Pitzer only a week ago and won that game on the road 2-0, but even after Saturday's results, the Panthers remain positioned to make the SCIAC Tournament. They are tied for fourth in the SCIAC with 14 points. If Chapman hangs on to the fourth seed, they will host the first round of the post season on Wilson Field in early November.
The Panthers will look to get back on track as they travel to play Cal Lutheran on Oct. 21.
