CLAREMONT, Calif. – Another quick multi-goal strike led the Chapman University men's soccer team to a 2-0 road victory at Pomona-Pitzer. A pair of goals of corner kicks proved to be the difference in the match.
The Panthers scored the road victory with two goals just two and a half minutes apart. Evan Whitte's corner kick was deflected in by a defender in the 68th minute. The Panthers were outshot 15-8 in the match but managed to find the back of the net first and take an advantage with a second goal just minutes later.
Another corner kick from White in the 71st minute first found the head of Oliver Adams, who redirected to the right foot of Reed Leidlein for a 2-0 lead.
The Panthers withstood the desperate attack of the Sagehens over the last 20 minutes to secure the crucial road victory and continue their rise up the SCIAC stantdings.
Chapman returns home on Wednesday to take on first-place Redlands at 4 p.m.
