ORANGE, Calif — Men's soccer battles to live another day as the only undefeated team in the SCIAC with its first conference win, a 1-0 victory over Whittier.

The score was deadlocked at 0-0 for the majority of the game despite the Panthers getting some quality looks at the goal throughout the match. 

In the 72nd minute of the game, Aidan Wall broke free along the near side of the field. Wall, one on one with his defender, got a cross off to Tobi Howe, and while it was deflected initially, Howe got his foot on it and directed it to the bottom right corner of the net for the lone score of the night.

Chapman's defense fended off many Poet offensive opportunities. Jackson Busby was in on multiple deflections for the Panthers. 

At the goal, Chandler Siemonsma saved all four of his opportunities. 

The Panthers rocketed off eight shots on goal as opposed to Whittier's four, and got off eight more shot attempts than the Poets, 14-6.

Chapman returns to play next Wednesday. This time the Panthers will travel to Claremont to take on CMS at 7 p.m.
