McMillan set to make Chapman history at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Sophomore Jesse McMillan is set to make Chapman history tomorrow when he takes his spot on the runway for his first pole vault at the NCAA Division III Championships.

McMillan will be the first Panther (male or female) to compete at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The Panthers has been well represented in the NCAA Division II era but had not sent a track & field athlete to the national championships in the Division III era.

He obliterated the school record and remained toward the top of the national ranking for the he majority of the season in the pole vault. His best clearance of 4.95 meters goes into the national meet as the 12th-best in all of Division III. He will lineup with the best in Division III on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute. The 20 men competing in the event have cleared anywhere from 4.85-5.06 meters over the course of the 2022 season.

The pole vaulting event is set to begin at 9 a.m. (ET)/6 a.m. (PT).
