Track & Field shows out at Rossi Relays

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Chapman track & field showed out strongly at the Rossi Relays in Claremont over the weekend with several athletes getting personal bests and one school record almost falling. 

Makenna Lizarde highlighted the women's side nearly breaking the school record in the 100 yard dash, going a new personal best of 12.21. She ended up finishing in the top five overall. In the 100 meter hurdles, Regina O'Leary finished in the top 15 in the 100 meter hurdles. In the 4x100 relay, Chapman finished in ninth going a 48.99. On the field side, Josie Ray finished eighth in high jump leaping 1.54 meters or five feet five inches. Elise Raffiani finished just outside the top 10 in the triple jump going just over 34 feet. Eva Ndoye rounded out the group finishing in the top 10 in the shot put throwing 11.35 meters. 

Phillip Zhang highlighted the men's side going a personal best in the 100 meter sprint with an 11.11. He finished first among athletes from the SCIAC in that event. Derek Amlicke also highlighted the field side, tying for first place in the pole vault by jump 4.85 meters or over 15 feet, 11 inches. In the triple jump, Isaac Robins rounded out the performances on the men's side when he finished in third eclipsing a mark of 14.03 meters. 

Track & field will look to take that momentum and gear up to head to the SCIAC Quad 1 meet at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday, Mar. 7.
