ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's water polo team fell 22-10 to Cal Lutheran on Saturday. Prior to the match, Chapman honored its lone senior Diana Hattar.
The match started with back-to-back 5-meter shots awarded to each side. Kaitlin Gardhouse converted her attempt to put Cal Lutheran up 1-0 and sophomore Camille Chiang answered with converting Chapman's attempt to make it 1-1.
The Panthers hung tight with the No. 1 team in Division III through the first quarter and trailed just 5-4. However, the Regals pulled away in the second quarter and continued to build a sizeable lead. The Panthers were outscored 6-1 in the second and 5-1 in the third.
Chiang scored three goals and added three assists to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Julia Bridges also scored three times and Hattar celebrated her Senior Day with a pair of goals.
The Panthers will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they take on La Verne at 4 p.m.
