ORANGE, Calif. – A pair of second half goals provided the difference in the Chapman University men's soccer team's 2-0 win over visiting Cal Lutheran. Freshman Peter Senko scored his first career goal to give the Panthers the edge.

After a scoreless first half, the Panthers pushed forward early in the second. Chapman held Cal Lutheran to just five shots in the match while taking 16, including 10 in the second half alone.

The Panthers took six of the first seven shot of the first half but could not get any on frame. In the 73rd minute, Chapman again built the play forward. Senior Connor McLane weaved his way through defenders and found Senko running free toward the back post. A quick pass and one touch back across the goal gave Chapman the 1-0 lead.

The Kingsmen forced sophomore Chandler Siemonsma to make one of his two saves on the night just two minutes late but a diving stop to his left denied the opportunity. In the 82nd minute, sophomore Tobi Howe charged after a long, bouncer in the box. He was first to the ball and collided with goalkeeper as the two converged.

The referee immediately pointed to the spot for a penalty. Sophomore Aidan Wall stepped in for Howe, who was injured in the collision, to take the PK and beat the keeper to the right for a 2-0 lead.

Chapman's back line denied the Kingsmen any dangerous opportunities down the stretch and the Panthers came away with the win. The victory kept Chapman in the hunt for a top-4 finish in the conference standings but are chasing Occidental and La Verne – their last two opponents left on the SCIAC schedule.

Chapman hosts Occidental on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Wilson Field.
