ORANGE, Calif. - Five players scored goals, two of which
came from junior F Dean Sewitz, as the Chapman
University men's soccer team defeated visiting Caltech 6-0 at
Wilson Field on Monday evening. The victory was the Panthers'
fourth straight and at 5-1 it's their fastest start since 1995.
Sewitz scored Chapman's first goal of the game in the 7th minute
and it looked as if the Panthers were going to run away with the
game early. Caltech put up a tough defensive front for next 30
minutes until sophomore F Dalton Sweaney broke the
game open on a breakaway goal which gave Chapman a 2-0 advantage.
Five minutes later, junior F Matt Prouty scored
off a corner kick by senior M Cris Bacharach
pushing Chapman's first half lead to 3-0.
In the second half, Sewitz scored his second goal of the game on
an assist from junior M Jeff Shah. Chapman added a
goal by Cris Bacharach in the 57th minute and
another by freshman M Brett Richardson in the 83rd
minute to seal the victory.

coming in the second half for the Beavers. Sophomore GK
Tyler Hadzinsky and freshman GK Matt
Bernhardt combined on the shutout.
