Box Score ORANGE, Calif. – A strong outing from Ashley Hester led the Chapman University softball team to a 5-0 win over Johnson & Wales in the first elimination game of the Linfield regional. The Panthers advance to tonight's elimination game against Lewis & Clark.
The offense backed Hester with a run in the fourth, two more in the fifth and an extra two in the seventh. Hester tossed a three-hit shutout and struck out three to lift the Panthers to the win. It was her second win in an elimination game in the last week.
Ilianna Serna knocked in a pair of runs in the fifth and Jojo Westerfield knocked in the two in the seventh to pad the Panther lead. Mo Lynch gave the Panthers the lead in the fourth, cashing in Grace Fosselman.
The top of the Panther lineup combined for seven of the Panthers' nine hits, going 7-for-14.
Chapman and Lewis & Clark face off for a second time at 5 p.m. in the second elimination game.
