REDLANDS, Calif. – The 2026 season came to a close as the Chapman University softball team fell 8-0 to Redlands and 9-1 to Whittier on Saturday. The Panthers season comes to an end with a 28-15 overall record and a sixth straight appearance in the SCIAC Tournament.
Game 1 – L, 8-0 vs, Redlands
Redlands scored seven in the fourth and added on the clinching run in the fifth as Chapman fell in the winner's bracket game. A pair of errors led to four unearned runs.
Aleena Helms went 2-for-2 with a single and a double but the Panthers stranded six runners on base through the five -inning game.
Game 2 – L, 9-1 vs. Whittier
The Panthers fell to Whittier in six innings on a game-clinching double in the sixth. Six different players singled for Chapman but four runners were left on base. Katie Miyasato scored the Panthers' only run on error in the third.
Whittier opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the first and added five more in the third.
Helms had another hit for the Panthers. Senior Mia Reyes also had a hit in both games.
Rose Malen also appeared in the circle in both games to close out her decorated career.
The Panthers season comes to a close with the two losses after finishing second in the SCIAC and qualifying for the SCIAC Tournament for the sixth year in a row.
