ORANGE, Calif. – Seniors Shea Higa and Rose Malen were each recognized on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region X teams. Malen earns her fourth All-Region award while Higa earned her first.
Higa earned First Team honors after her first year in a starting role. The senior stepped into the starting shortstop role and thrived both offensively and defensively. She hit .364 this season while leading the team with 32 runs scored. She hit three doubles, three triples and two inside-the-park homers. Her nine stolen bases were also tied for the team lead.
Malen completed a career All-Region sweep as she earned the recognition for the fourth time in four years. After earning SCIAC Pitcher of the Year for the second year in a row, Malen earned Second Team honors to conclude her accomplished career. She posted a 1.64 ERA over 123.2 innings pitched this year, striking out 88 while walking just 13 and limiting opponents to a .212 batting average. She went 12-8 to surpass 50 career wins.
The Panthers concluded the season in the SCIAC Tournament with a 28-15 overall record and finished in second place in the SCIAC standings.
