Box Score 2 ORANGE, Calif. — Chapman (11-11, 7-4 SCIAC) women's water polo played a doubleheader of games Saturday against conference foe Cal Lutheran and Division II neighboring school Concordia Irvine. The Panthers split the two games, defeating Concordia 10-8 and narrowly falling the Cal Lutheran 9-8.
Against Concordia, Chapman avenged a narrow loss to Concordia by just one point on Mar. 1. Senior attacker
Alyssa Fricker led the way with four goals, three assists, two steals and four earned ejections. Sophomore
Kendall Pappan dominated in her own right with seven earned ejections to go along with two goals. Freshman
Annie Nadolski also poured on back-to-back goals.
Goalkeeper
Zoey Francis earned 12 blocks, some of which the junior transfer leaped two-to-three feet out of the water for.
Riley Eaves and
Nina Bastick also contributed with one goal each.
Against Cal Lutheran, Francis dominated with 11 saves, while
Meg Peters and
Aveen Cunningham notched new season highs with two goals each. Peters, Pappan, Nadolski, Bastick and Fricker all netted one goal.
The Panthers had more shot attempts but made just 28 percent of total shots on goal. Meanwhile, Cal Lutheran's Katie Knight netted nearly half her team's goals with four. The Regals' goalkeeper Izzy De Souza also recorded 11 saves.
Chapman also had possession of the ball with a chance to tie and under 10 seconds left. Despite the close loss, the Panthers remains in full control of the three seed in the SCIAC.
They will wrap up the regular season hosting Santa Clara on Friday, April 18 at 3 p.m. and Cal Tech on Sat. April 19 at 11 a.m.
