FIRST TIME'S A CHARM
In his first season as Head Coach, TJ Perez has led the Panthers back to the SCIAC Tournament. Chapman matched their finish from a year ago, heading in to the tournament as the No. 5 seed. This time, the Panthers will head to Occidental for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The winner heads to top-seeded Pomona-Pitzer.
WE MEET AGAIN
Chapman and Oxy have faced off twice this season with Chapman coming out on top both times. An early goal from Sydney Karjian lifted the Panthers to a 1-0 win at home, handing Oxy its first SCIAC loss of the season. At Occidental, Jenna Urrabazo scored a goal in the 21st minute that stood as the only score of the match. Karys McKinney assisted on both goals, leading the Panthers to the wins. Bella Barretto made sixes saves in both shutout wins.
BARRETTO'S IMPACT
Bella Barretto made her Chapman debut on September 27 and the Panthers have gone 5-3-2 since then with Barretto posting a 4-3-1 record. Barretto has a 0.97 goals against average and has saved 86 percent of shots on goal in her eight games.
KARJIAN, URRABAZO LEAD THE SCORING
Sidney Karjian and Jenna Urrabazo have led the way in scoring as each have put up nine points this year with four goals and one assist. Both have also caught fire in the back half of the season as all four of Karjian's goals have come since October 1 while seven of Urrabazo's nine points have also come since October 1.
THIRD YEAR IN A ROW
Chapman advances to the SCIAC Tournament for the third year in a row and eighth year overall. The last time the Panthers advanced in the SCIAC Tournament was 2016 when Katie Bell was the only player to make her attempt in penalty kicks at Pomona-Pitzer. Kristin Kleinow saved all five attempts from the Sagehens to send the Panthers to the Championship Game.
