Preview: Men's soccer gears up to host SCIAC Tournament

11/3/2025 1:01:00 PM

ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman men's soccer is gearing up to host La Verne in the opening round of the SCIAC Conference Tournament on Tuesday at 5 PM. During the 2025 season, the Panthers and the Leopards tied split their two match-ups. On Sept. 10 at La Verne, the Leopards won 1-0. On Sept. 20 against them at home, Chapman won the game 2-1. The second game gave Chapman more season points over the Leopards in the head-to-head tie breakers, which is how the Panthers clinched home field advantage. The winner moves on to play top seed Occidental College.

Razor Thin Margins In SCIAC Play

The SCIAC had just three competition points separating top ranked Occidental and fourth seed Chapman along with fifth seed La Verne. Occidental College secured the top seed with 21 points, while Chapman tied with La Verne for 18 points.

Goalkeeper Glynn at it again

The 2024 All-SCIAC Team member Alex Glynn has been consistently dominant yet again in 2025. He recorded 50 saves in 16 starts thus far. He has also started every game he's played in, and been the anchor of the Chapman defense in 2025.

Home Field Advantage

Men's soccer has thrived at home in 2025 going 5-1-1. The road hasn't been the same story, as the team has gone 1-5-2 away from Chapman Stadium. The Panthers become a different team when they play at home.

Career Year for Paine

Senior forward Dylan Paine has recorded career-highs with four goals, nine points and 18 shots in 2025. He also netted the game winning goal for the Panthers on senior day against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to clinch the team's home field advantage.
