CLAREMONT, Calif. – Both Chapman University track & field teams rose up the standings with program-best finishes at the SCIAC Track & Field Championships. The women's team challenged for the team title and took second by a slim margin for its best-ever finish and the men's team took third for a new program-best.

The Panthers claimed five SCIAC event titles and had 20 more podium finishes in the most successful championship meet in program history.

After
Annika Carlson and
Jesse McMillan claimed titles on Saturday, the Panthers began the day with a SCIAC championship in the women's 4x100m relay. The team of
Khyra Stiner,
Kaylee Smith,
Allie Kremer and Ariana Raphael ran a new program record 46.81 to win the event. It was the first relay title in program history.

Isaac Robin won the triple jump with another school record mark of 14.25 meters (46-feet, 9-inches). He surpassed a school record set in 1960 by Gayle Brewer.
Mason Fara won his first career SCIAC title and also ran his way into the record books with a 46.93 in the 400m dash, beating his own school record. Fara also took a narrow third place in the 200m dash to claim another medal.

Alec Desuasido made for a 1-2 Chapman finish in the triple jump as he took second with a mark of 13.62 meters (44-feet, 8.25-inches). It was the second All-SCIAC finish for Desuasido. Briana Meredith represented the Panthers on the podium in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.11 meters (36-feet, 5.5-inches) and a third-place finish.

Passion Washington,
Khyra Stiner and
Kaylee Smith all went home with two All-SCIAC medals. Washington placed second in the 100m hurdles and third in the first-ever SCIAC heptathlon. She set the school record in the hurdles with a time of 14.89. Stiner was third in both the 100m hurdles and the 100m dash while Smith took third in the 200m dash and second in the 400m.

Proud Kitnitchiva took third in the 400m hurdles and Kremer took third in the 400m dash while Ariana Raphael set the school record with a 12.34 in the 100m dash to take second place. Briana Meredith finished in third in the triple jump with a school record mark of 11.11 meters.
Zoe Zurasky set the school record mark with 3,730 points in the heptathlon to take second and
Adva Shilon made the podium with a third-place finish in the pole vault.

Danny Johnson took third to finish on top of the podium at the first-ever SCIAC decathlon with a school record of 5,934 points.

As a team, the Panther women finished with 182 points – just three back of the SCIAC Champions from Redlands but five in front of the defending champions from CMS. The men's team jumped over Redlands in the final few events to take third place in the team standings with 129 points.

The Panthers have several athletes in position to earn an invite to the NCAA Division III Championships in a few weeks and will continue to compete at last chance meets to secure their spots.
