Box Score The Chapman University women's water polo team earned a 10-6 win over UC Merced. The Panthers improved to 11-8 on the season with their sixth win in a row.
Georgina Burton held the Bobcats scoreless with 11 saves over the first three quarters to lead the Panthers to the win. Kendall Pappan scored four goals to lead Chapman offensively while Riley Eaves scored twice more.
The teams engaged in a defensive struggle through the first with Jamie Chin being the only player to find the back of the net for a 1-0 Chapman lead. The Panthers pulled away with back-to-back goals from Pappan and another goal from Eaves in the second.
Pappan was the only player to score in the third as she scored twice more for a 6-0 Chapman lead through three quarters. The Bobcats were able to get on the board in the fourth but the Panthers held off the comeback attempt to come away with the win in their final non-conference match of the season.
Chapman heads to Pomona-Pitzer on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match and then will celebrate Senior Day on April 6 when it returns to Allred Pool for an 11 a.m. matchup with La Verne.
