ORANGE, Calif — Women's water polo is set to open its season against Cal St. Fullerton on Friday, Feb. 9.
History
The Panthers will play the Titans for just the second time in program history as CSUF hosted its inaugural season for women's water polo in 2023. The Titans won that game 12-8.
Impact Players
The Panthers return Alyssa Fricker was tabbed a Second Team All-American in 2023 after earning honorable mention honors in her freshman season at Augustana. Fricker scored 68 goals on 160 shots in her sophomore campaign.
Riley Eaves returns for her second season with the Panthers. The freshman scored 32 goals in her debut campaign and led all of the returners with 35 assists.
Georgina Burton is back to hold down the goal. She started in all 19 of her appearances. She collected 194 saves for a 49.5 save percentage. She was fourth in the SCIAC in saves in 2023.Â
Schedule
The Panthers play a tough slate, facing five NCAA Division I opponents. Allred Pool will be a host site for the 2024 Claremont Convergence. The Panthers will see CSUN, LIU, CUI, and Augustana on March 1 and 2. Â
They face No. 1/24 Pomona-Pitzer only once in 2024. SCIAC schools they face twice include Claremont-M-S, Cal Lutheran, Redlands, and La Verne.
The final game of the season is April 17, and the SCIAC playoffs, should the Panthers qualify, begin April 26. The championship game is held on the 28th.
