Carlson takes third to lead cross country at SCIAC Championships

ORANGE, Calif. – Annika Carlson took third place overall to lead the Chapman University cross country teams at the SCIAC Championships on Saturday. Carlson became the highest finisher at the SCIAC Championship meet in school history.

Carlson broke up the trio of top finishers from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to take third overall. She crossed the finish line at a time of 22:05.6 for her second All-SCIAC cross country finish. The All-SCIAC finish is her sixth career All-SCIAC award across three different sports.

In the team standings, both the men's and women's teams took sixth place. Gavin White was the men's top finisher at 26:22.9 in 29th overall.

In the women's 6k, Carlson was followed by Brenda Daza in 31st and Kamaira Silva in 55th. In the men's 8k, White was followed by Lucas Turano in 37th and Gil Bothwell in 45th.

The Panthers head to the NCAA Division III West Regionals on Nov. 16 with Carlson looking to qualify once more for the national championship meet.
