Men's tennis drops ranked matchup to Johns Hopkins

Box Score

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team fell 5-0 to ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins in a rain-shortened match on Sunday. The Panthers fell for the fourth time in the last five matches against a grueling schedule of nationally-ranked teams.

The Blue Jays swept through the doubles matches before taking straight set victories on courts one and six to clinch the match. With rain falling on and off throughout the match, the match was ended once the team result was decided.

Danny Marsh had just forced a third set on court three and Tommy Hays was up 7-5, 4-3 at No. 2. Josh Blinder was in a tight third set on No. 4 and Mac Caldwell was up 5-3 in the second set on No. 5, trying to force a third and deciding set.

With rain again in the forecast through the early part of the week, the Panthers rescheduled Tuesday's match against Williams to Thursday at 11 a.m.
