CLAREMONT, Calif. -Â In the first SCIAC meet of the season, both Chapman University swim & dive teams defeated Whittier but fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Panthers saw several solid swims, including 11 event wins and 23 new top-10 times.
Chapman's low tops captured their first-ever relay win over CMS with a 1:24.67 in the 200 free relay.
Riley Coleman, Trent Calloway,
Simon Jacobs and
Cole Kershner combined for the winning time. Calloway also won the 100 fly with a 50.57 and won the 200 free with a time of 1:43.60. Kershner, who is the defending SCIAC champion in the 50 free, won the same event with a 21.12.
Chapman also swept the diving board events with
Jake Randazzo winning the 1-meter and
Rhys Davies winning the 3-meter.
For the high tops, Audrey Davis led the way with a pair of event wins. She swept the backstroke events with a winning time of 2:11.53 in the 200 back and a 1:00.04 in the 100 back. A pair of Panthers took freestyle wins as well with Megan Lei taking the 100 free with a time of 53.78 and Lily Bradbury winning the 200 free 1:58.90.
The Low Tops defeated Whittier in the double dual by a score of 205-83 and fell to CMS 194-106. The High Tops beat Whittier 203-93 and dropped the dual to CMS 192-107.
Chapman is back in action next week against Redlands.
