Relays finish night on the podium, both swim & dive teams in third place

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Both relays ended the night on the podium and both Chapman University swim & dive teams sit in third place in the team standings heading into the final day. Ryan Musich also set a school record in the 400 IM to highlight day three.

Musich swam a 4:04.26 to better the 400 IM school record by two seconds and take third in the B final in the event. He dropped six seconds off his morning swim in his record-breaking effort.

The highlight of the night came in the final races as the men's 200 free relay took second and the women's relay team came from behind to take a narrow third place.

The men's team was just off a school record with a 1:21.12 to take second place. The Chapman women narrowly trailed Cal Lutheran's relay team heading into the final leg. A 23.65 split from Tatum Chambers as the anchor inched in front of Cal Lutheran's anchor to end the night on the podium with a difference of 0.3 seconds.

CJ Smith provided another highlight as she won the consolation final of the 100 breast with a 1:07.81, dropping over one second from her morning swim,

The women's team sits in third with a 49-point lead over Caltech going into the final set of events on Saturday. The men's team is securely in third. Leading Caltech by 140 points.
