ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team defeated visiting Whitman 7-2 for its fourth win in the last five matches. The Panthers improved to 4-2 in the month of March to pull their overall record to .500.

Chapman took an early advantage with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. Caleb Wilkins and Harry Cohen improved to 6-2 in dual matches and won their fifth match in a row with an 8-3 victory at the top of the lineup. Josh Blinder and Kameron DeHart won 8-6 in the No. 2 match to give Chapman the advantage in the team score.

Wilkins continued his winning ways at the top of the singles lineup. He improved to 7-1 in dual matches this season with a quick 6-0, 6-1 win. Cohen also captured a quick 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2. Andy Hess won by the same score in the No. 6 match. The three quick singles wins were enough to clinch the team victory.

DeHart added in a point when he won 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 4 match and Danny Marsh battled to a three-set victory in the No. 5 match to close out the win.

The Panthers host match nine of their season-opening 11-match homestand tomorrow at 3 p.m. when they take on Johns Hopkins.
