ORANGE, Calif. – Sophomore Caleb Wilkins finished off a three-set win at the top of the singles lineup and the Chapman University men's tennis team finished on the right end of a 5-4 match with Cal Lutheran. The Panthers and Kingsmen have now played three matches decided by a single point.

Chapman wound up on the wrong end of the 5-4 final in the first two matchups but found a way to push through for the win in this one. After two closely contested sets, Wilkins pulled away in the third for a 7-5, 6-7, 6-2 win to clinch the match. Wilkins also won 8-7 in the No. 1 doubles match with junior Harry Cohen.

Chapman also squeaked out an 8-7 win in the No. 2 doubles match with Mason Marks and Josh Blinder getting the 8-7 win but CLU captured a point in the No.3 double match.

Blinder grabbed another point for the Panthers with a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 3 match. Alex Granados also won in straight sets in the No. 6 match, 6-3, 6-2.

The Panthers grabbed their first win of the year with the 5-4 victory and will look to tie up the SCIAC series next Saturday when they head up to Thousand Oaks.
