LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team became the next Panther team to step back into competing with a dual match at Biola on Friday. The Panthers fell 5-2 to the Division II Eagles in their return.
Senior Jacob Lee and freshman Harry Cohen each won their singles matches to account for the two Chapman team points. Lee took the No. 5 match 6-3, 6-4 while Cohen won 7-6, 6-1 on court No. 3. Another newcomer, Mason Marks, captured his first singles set but fell 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 4.
Cohen also teamed up with newcomer Alex Granados for a 6-2 win on the No. 2 court for doubles. Biola's duos took the matches on court one and court three to capture the doubles point.
Chapman heads to Azusa Pacific on Wednesday to take on another Division II program to open the season. The Panthers will then face Cal Lutheran four times in April to fill out their shortened 2021 schedule.
