Kamemoto wins fourth straight but Panthers fall

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 match to visiting Colby on Sunday. Freshman Len Kamemoto extended his win streak to four to earn the Panthers' only point.

Chapman's No. 6 player continued his recent hot streak with a comeback win. After dropping the first set 4-6, Kamemoto won 5-7 to force a third set and kept the momentum with a 10-7 win in the super tiebreaker to take the match. His fourth win in a row improves his record to 5-1 in the No. 6 slot in the lineup.

Colby swept the doubles matches with an 8-2 win at No. 1 and 8-4 wins in the following two matches. The Mules took the top-5 singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Igor Silva dropped a heartbreaker, falling 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5.

The Panthers play one more nonconference match against Williams at Claremont, Calif., before getting into the SCIAC schedule on Saturday at Occidental.
