Men's tennis drops heartbreaker to Vassar

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team led after doubles but fell 5-4 to visiting Vassar College. Freshman Len Kamemoto won his third consecutive match at No. 6.

Kamemoto capture on of the two Panther points in singles. He won 6-4, 6-3 to move his winning streak to three matches. Seniors Charlie Werman and Josh Sarsfield also won for the third consecutive match with an 8-5 victory in the top doubles match. The duo improved to 9-3 on the year with the win.

Sophomores Mathew Mead and Brock DeHaven teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles, taking down the Vassar pair 8-3 to give the Panthers an early 2-1 edge.

Vassar was able to overcome the deficit with four straight-set wins in singles. Freshman Darrus Lee captured the final point of the match with a come-from-behind 6-7, 6-2,1-0 (10-6) super tiebreak win at No. 4.

The Panthers take on Colby tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Anaheim Tennis Center.
