ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University men's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped with a loss to No. 1-nationally ranked Amherst College (Mass.) by a team score of 9-0 at the Chapman Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

Chapman's No. 1 singles player senior Justin Thompson battled hard against Amherst's No. 1 singles player Anton Zykov, but fell short and lost 6-4, 7-5 in straight sets.

Panther sophomores Charlie Werman and Sam Mitteldorf both had three-match winning streaks headed in to this match, but saw those streaks come to an end against Amherst's Andrew Arnaboldi and Sean Rodriguez 7-6, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-0, respectively.

In doubles competition, Thompson and junior Hunter Morris fell to Amherst's No. 3-regionally ranked Michael Solimano and Aaron Revzin 8-0 in the No. 1 spot.

No. 40-ranked Chapman will travel to play Cal Lutheran for its next SCIAC match on Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m at the Cal Lutheran Tennis Courts.
