Two more school records fall at APU Last Chance

Azusa, Calif.— The Chapman University track and field program built off momentum over the weekend at the APU Franson Last Chance meet hosted at future SCIAC member school Azusa Pacific. 

Brenda Daza highlighted the day smashing her own school record in the 10k going 36:21.58. Daza shaved off six seconds from her own record. Lucas Turano then came in and dominated the 800 meters setting a new personal best and school record by going 1:51.09. Turano is also currently on track to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships in the event. Turano broke his old school record of 1:51.95. 

On the women's side, Chapman came in fifth in the 4x400 relay going 3:49.69. In the 200 meters, Makenna Lizarde came in top 25 going 25.02. In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Valerie Noria went 11:56.42 coming in the top 30. Rounding out the group in the shot put, Shauna Anders came in 12th in the women's shot put throwing 10.34 meters (33-feet, 11.25 inches). 

On the men's side, Derek Amlicke placed fourth in the pole vault leaping 4.73 meters (15-feet, 6.25-meters). Rounding out the group, Evan Giacobbe competed in the high jump and finished in the top 15. He leaped 1.80 meters (5-feet, 10.75-inches). 

The Panthers will continue their season at the University of Redlands Last Chance Meet from May 14-15.
