ORANGE, Calif. — Three athletes for the Chapman University softball and track & field programs were named SCIAC Athletes of the Week.
Kloe Lobato from softball was named Hitter of the Week.
Lindsey Gray was named Field Athlete of the Week on the women's side and
Derek Amlicke was named Field Athlete of the Week on the men's side.
Lobato led the Panthers to a SCIAC series win over La Verne, in a weekend where she had seven total hits, five RBI and one run scored. Lobato hit a double in the sixth inning of the opening series game at home Friday afternoon to help lift Chapman over the Leopards 3-2.
Gray competed and dominated at the Bryan Clay Invite on her jumps. equaled the triple jump record she set just three weeks ago. She became the first female to jump over 18-feet in Chapman history when she leaped 18-feet, 1.75-inches (5.53 meters) to set the new school record. Gray also finished first in the SCIAC in both events.
Amlicke competed in the pole vault, where he went 16 feet, 2.8 inches (4.95 meter), finishing in second place in his division. He also finished at the top of the SCIAC in the event, and first for Division III schools in his heat.
