Women's golf finishes sixth at SCIAC Championships

The Panthers finished the tournament with their best round.

SANTA ANITA Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team wrapped up the 2026 season with a sixth place finish at the SCIAC Championships. Elle Gianelli and Nika Gholami led the way for the Panthers on the final day.

Chapman had its best day as a team, ending the round 20-over with Gianelli and Gholami each finishing two-over par on the day. Both recorded three birdies and moved up five spots on the leaderboard.

Gianelli was Chapman's top-finisher, taking 21st overall at 19-over par for the three-day championship. Gholami was just four strokes behind in 25th as she rebounded with her best round of the tournament. Lauren Lee finished 23rd overall and Ella Michitsch was 27th.

The Panthers had their best round on the final day but stayed in sixth place behind Occidental and ahead of La Verne. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the team title.

Round 2 Recap

The Chapman University women's golf team remained in sixth place after the second round of the SCIAC Championships at Santa Anita Golf Course. Elle Gianelli led the Panthers through day two.

Gianelli was eight-over for the day, moving up one spot to 26th on the individual leaderboard. She is 17-over through two days. In 22nd overall, Lauren Lee leads the Panthers on the individual leaderboard. She is 14-over through two days.

Chapman is firmly in sixth as a team, leading La Verne by 17 strokes but trailing Occidental by 21 strokes.


Round 1 Recap

SANTA ANITA, Calif. – The Chapman University women's golf team is in fifth place after the opening round of the SCIAC Championships. Lauren Lee leads the Panthers in 13th individually.

Lee finished the opening round of the three-day tournament at four-over par. She started her day with a birdie and collected three birdies on the day to propel her into the top-15.

Ella Michitsh is the next on the leaderboard for Chapman in 18th – just two strokes behind Lee. Ella Gianelli was nine-over par and Nika Gholami was 10-over par to round out the day one scoring.

At 29-over as a team, the Panthers hold a one stroke lead over Occidental for fifth place entering the middle round. CMS holds the team lead at one-over as a team.

The second round tees off on Friday at 10 a.m.
