ORANGE, Calif. – A new relay record and two more event records were surpassed for the Chapman University track & field teams at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The three new records came after Brenda Daza's record-breaking 10k on Thursday.
The men's 4x400m relay stayed near the top of the national leaderboard with a school record time of 3:11.88. The Panthers rank fourth in Division III with the record-breaking time and placed third in the elite meet. Charley McCarthy, Mason Fara, Wyn Smoole and Alex Vasquez teamed up for the record-setting run.
Lindsey Gray continued to jump into the Chapman record books as she equaled the triple jump record she set just three weeks ago and broke the long jump record she set in 2025 and tied earlier this season. She became the first female to jump over 18-feet in Chapman history on her third attempt. She jumped 18-feet, 1.75-inches (5.53 meters) to set the new school record. Her triple jump covered 11.24 meters (36-feet, 10.5-inches).
Lucas Turano broke his second school record in as many weeks, taking down his own 800 meter record. He clocked a 1:51.95 in the two-lap race, which ranks fourth in the SCIAC just two weeks ahead of the conference championships.
The Panthers will take the next two weeks to gear up for the SCIAC Championships in Redlands, Calif. on May 2-3.
