ORANGE, Calif. – Ava Regan buried a put back with 13 seconds remaining to lift the Chapman University women's lacrosse team to a 14-13 win over Cal Lutheran on Senior Day. In a match that went back and forth all day long, the Panthers scored the final two goals for the comeback win in the final two minutes.
Annika Carlson's third goal of the match was the equalizer. The Panthers were trailing with less than 90 seconds to go. With the Panthers in possession, her initial shot was pushed away but Carlson quickly picked up the ground ball. Moments later, she cut across and ripped a shot past the keeper to know the game at 13-13.
The Panthers picked up the ensuing draw control and held on for the last shot. Madi Escobar earned a free position with 17 seconds remaining. Another save from Bella Bravo kept the Regals tied, but only for a moment. Regan grabbed the rebound out of the air and flipped it back into the goal for the game-winner.
Ilana Touger played the fourth quarter in goal for the Panthers and came up with four big saves while allowing just two Cal Lutheran goals.
Ella Seidel led the Panthers with four goals while Carlson added her hat trick.
The final home match of the season for the Panthers featured eight lead changes, including three in the fourth quarter. Chapman entered the final quarter down 11-10, took the lead, gave it back and then reclaimed it again in the final seconds.
Chapman will finish the 2025 season on the road at Redlands on Tuesday and at Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday.
