ORANGE, Calif. – Jesse McMillan mad history as he took second place in the pole vault at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Mason Fara also claimed All-American Second Team honors in the 400m.

McMillan had the best finish in Chapman track & field's Division III history as the national runner-up. He also increased his school record as he cleared 5.10 meters for the first time in his career. McMillan set the pace at the top of the field as he cleared six of his first seven vaults on the way to a new PR.

He started the competition at the top of the lineup and cleared the first three heights. He missed his first attempt at five meters but made it over the bar on the second. He cleared 5.05 meters on his first attempt to equal his career-best and then cleared 5.10 meters on his first attempt to surpass it.

McMillan was one of just three competitors to attempt the next height at 5.15 meters but missed on all three attempts while St. Norbert's Aidan Anderson cleared his second attempt to claim the national title.

Fara competed in the first heat of the 400m and finished 16th overall with a 49.34 on the flat 200-meter track. His finish earned him his Second Team All-American award – the first All-American award of his career.

The rest of the team competed at the RCC Open on Friday in the rainy conditions. Annika Carlson took first place in the 1500m run as did the women's 4x400m relay. Thatch Balady won the men's pole vault as well.

The Panthers are off next week but return to the track for the Mangrum Invite on Mar. 28 and the SCIAC Quad Cup on Mar. 29.
