ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's basketball team heads to Cal Lutheran for the SCIAC Tournament semifinal on Thursday. The Panthers enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed while the Regals earned the No. 2 seed. Get ready for the game with five quick facts about today's contest.

The Panthers and Regals split their regular season matchups this season with the home team coming out victorious in both matchups. Chapman fell 86-72 in Thousand Oaks but avenged the loss with a 69-60 win in the Hutton Sports Center. The semifinal game will be played out at Cal Lutheran as the Regals finished second in the conference standings.

All-SCIAC selection Shanna Brown leads all of Division III in free throw percentage, shooting 92 percent from the line this year. Brown is 69-for-75 from the line this year. Her percentage ranks eighth among all players from all three divisions.

The Panthers lead the SCIAC in free throw percentage, assists per game and three-point percentage. They are shooting 35.8 percent beyond the three-point arc, which ranks 10th in Division III. Shanna Brown, Maile Nakaji and Kira Watanabe are all shooting 36 percent or better from long range.

The 2024-25 season has been one of streaks for the Panthers, especially in the SCIAC season. After winning their first two games in December to start the SCIAC schedule 2-0, the Panthers lost four in a row in January. Chapman got back in the win column with a road win over CMS on January 18 and sparked a seven-game win streak that clinched a spot in the SCIAC Tournament. With the season winding down, the Panthers lost their last three games – the last two losses coming in overtime.
