ORANGE, Calif. – Mason Fara broke a school record in one event and won another event to lead the Chapman University track & field teams at the Ron Kamaka Open on Saturday.
Fara lowered his 100 meter dash record with a 10.82 to place third in the early season meet. The junior sprinter as won the 200 meter dash with a 21.77. He also ran the 4x400m relay with Christopher Kanemori, Sam Thompson and Kellen Edwards to place third overall with a 3:20.90.
After setting a school record at an indoor meet last week, Jesse McMillan placed second in the pole vault as he cleared 4.85 meters (15-feet, 11-inches). Davis Endow took third in a javelin with a one meter PR as his second attempt traveled 52.51 meters (172-feet, 3-inches). Isaac Robin placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 13.54 meters (44-feet, 5.25-inches).
The women's team impressed in the sprint races with four runners in the top-10 of the 100m dash and five in the top-10 of the 200m dash. Makenna Lizarde's 12.33 led the Panthers in the 100m and Kaylee Smith led the Panthers in the 200m with a 25.68.
Annika Carlson ran another 3,000 meter race and took second with a 10:03.97 while Proud Kitnitchiva also took second in the 400m hurdles with a 1:07.73. The 4x400m relay team brought home the Panthers only event win on the women's side with a 3:55.29.
In the field events, Eva Ndoye made her Panther debut with a near school record in the shot put. Her mark of 11.29 meters (37-feet, 0.5-inches) was just three inches short of the school record and placed her fifth. Regina O'Leary also made her Chapman debut with a third-place finish in the triple jump.
The Panthers head to the first SCIAC Quad Meet of the season on Saturday at Caltech.
