MONTEREY PARK, Calif. – Jake Randazzo claimed another SCIAC diving title in dramatic fashion and three relays finished on the podium in a successful first day at the SCIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.

With Randazzo and Tommy Mathies separated by just a few points, Randazzo added difficulty to one of his dives in the finals to get the edge. When he executed the dive, he jumped ahead for the SCIAC title with a regional qualifying score of 487.35, edging Matheis' 481.10.

Gracie-Anne Fraunfelder led Chapman on the 3-meter board in the women's competition, placing sixth with a 373.85.

Both Low Tops relays climbed the podium on night one with third place finishes. The 800 free relay team shattered the school record with a 6:46.86 – nearly nine seconds faster than last year's time in the same event. Trenten Calloway, Zach Waddell, James Galligan and Bridy Perkins combined for the record with Calloway's lead leg of 1:39.59 also breaking his own school record in the 200 free. Calloway had the Panthers out in front with the fastest lead leg of the race.

In the 200 medley, the Panthers just missed the school record but beat Occidental to the wall by less than a tenth of a second to finish on the podium. Riley Coleman, Galligan, Simon Jacobs and Max Polvinkin combined for a 1:30.89.

The night began with a relay record and podium finish as the High Tops 200 medley relay team took third with a 1:44.85. Cora Buelow, CJ Smith, Kiana Tanizaki-Hudson and Avery Hall combined in the All-SCIAC finish that was a full two and a half second in front of the fourth-place finisher.

The SCIAC Championships continue tomorrow with the women's 1-meter competition as well as the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 200 free relay.
