VIRGINA BEACH, Va. – Another historic moment in
Jesse McMillan's career came at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. McMillan became Chapman's first-ever Division III All-American in track & field.
McMillan finished 14th in the pole vault to earn All-American Second Team honors -the first Panther to earn the honors since the 1980s. He cleared his first two heights on his first attempt at both heights to finish in the top-16 before missing all three attempts 4.88 meters (16-feet). He cleared the opening height of 4.58 meters and the next height of 4.73 meters.
McMillan competed in the third national championship meet of his career after competing in the outdoor championships in each of the last two seasons. He'll look to qualify for the third year in a row as he transitions into the outdoor season.
The rest of the Panthers compete at the Oxy Distance Carnival this weekend.
