ORANGE, Calif. – Freshman Aidan Wall stepped up in the fifth round of penalty kicks and drove home the game-winner for the Chapman University men's soccer team. The Panthers advanced to the SCIAC Tournament championship match 5-4 on PKs, upsetting top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The Panthers and Stags played to a scoreless draw through the 90 minutes of regulation. The Stags outshot the Panthers 12-6 in the match and forced freshman Chandler Siemonsma to make five saves – all in the second half.

The Panthers didn't test CMS' Jacob Mays until the second overtime when freshman Tobi Howe put Chapman's only shot on goal. After two scoreless overtimes, it all came down to penalty kicks with both teams having freshman goalkeepers in the net.

The first six players to take a PK were able to convert and the score was 3-3 after three rounds. In the fourth, Siemonsma turned away Aidan Johnson to give the Panthers the edge. Senior Bennett Close capitalized on the opportunity and gave Chapman a 4-3 lead. After CMS converted in the fifth round, Wall put the game-winner into the net and sent the Panthers streaming down the field.

The Panthers will head to Occidental on Saturday for the SCIAC Tournament championship match at 7 p.m.
