Orange, Calif. – Junior goalkeeper Matt Deemer recorded six saves in the Chapman University men's soccer team opening weekend victories to earn SCIAC Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week honors. Deemer split time with Sean Augustine as the Panthers recorded two shutouts.

The Carlsbad native recorded two saves in a 3-0 match against Fontbonne University on Friday night, including a leaping save to preserve the shutout with less than 20 minutes on the clock.

On Sunday, the junior turned away four shots in a 1-0 win against Whitman, including shutting down a 1-on-1 opportunity to keep the Panthers lead.
