Lead slips from Chapman in loss to Biola

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's basketball team fell 74-68 to Biola University on Saturday at the Hutton Sports Center. Senior Lauren Sato scored 17 points for the Panthers and senior Megan Charles scored 13 of her 19 points for Chapman in the fourth quarter. 

Chapman and Biola struggled to knock down shots in the first few minute of the game. After 10 minutes of play the Eagles edged Chapman 12-10 despite Chapman forcing six turnovers.

The Panthers caught fire at the start of the second quarter earning a 10-0 run to help the Panthers catch a 20-12 lead. The Panthers headed into the half with a 34-26 lead after Sato drained a pair of triples in the quarter.
 

The Eagles fought their way back into the game into the third quarter as Annie Park scored 15 points to put Biola back in the driver's seat with a 49-44 lead. Biola held on to the game through the fourth quarter out scoring Chapman 25-22 despite a a close 70-68 score inside the final minute.

Chapman will travel to Pomona-Pitzer on Sun. Dec. 11 for their first SCIAC match. The Panthers will return home on Thurs. Dec. 15 to start their seven-game home stand.
