ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University baseball team had three players selected to the All-SCIAC teams, released by the SCIAC office on Thursday. Senior Graham Stogner was recognized on the First Team while Tate Zimmerman and Nick Molina earned Second Team honors.
Stogner's first career honor came after a move to the bullpen. He was simply dominant since moving to the back end of the bullpen, leading the SCIAC with four saves during the SCIAC season. SCIAC batters hit just .188 against Stogner over 29 innings while he compiled a 2.48 ERA, 42 strikeouts and a 2-2 record. In his nine relief appearances against SCIAC opponents, he had a 2.00 ERA with opponents hitting just .103 against him.
Molina made an immediate impact as a freshman at the plate and on the mound. He led the team hitting .393 in SCIAC games and ranked sixth in SCIAC with an 1.184 OPS. He hit four doubles and five home runs with 22 RBIs. He went 1-1 as the Friday starter over much of the season, pitching 36.1 innings over eight starts.
Zimmerman's return to baseball proved to be crucial for the Chapman lineup. After a full career in collegiate football, Zimmerman returned to the diamond to hit .342 and lead the team with six home runs in SCIAC games. He also tied for the team lead with seven doubles as well as hitting a triple when he was just a single short of the cycle against Caltech. He walked 10 times while striking out only seven times.
The Panthers finished fourth in the SCIAC standings and returned to the SCIAC Tournament for the first time since 2023 with Stogner, Molina and Zimmerman leading the way. The season came to an end in the First Round with the Panthers more than doubling their win total from last season with a 24-17 overall record.
