Women's lacrosse falls to Dominican

The Panthers play their home finale on Saturday against Cal Lutheran.

ORANGE, Calif. – The Chapman University women's lacrosse team fell 14-7 to NCAA Division II opponent Dominican 14-7. Zoey Stephens had two goals, two assists, four caused turnovers and five ground balls.

Stephens scored the first goal of the game but the Penguins responded with a five-goal run that lasted into the second quarter. Chapman rallied late in the third quarter and into the fourth with a three-goal run that cut the lead to four but Dominican scored the last three goals of the game.

Stephens filled the stat sheet on both ends of the field as she had four caused turnovers for the fourth game in a row and fifth time this season. She has also scored at least once in every game, scoring twice and assisting twice more in today's game.

Madi Escobar and Tade Scheid each added a pair of goals. After breaking the school record on Saturday with 18 saves at Pomona-Pitzer, Camila Gabrian made seven saves in the quick turnaround.

The Panthers host Cal Lutheran on Saturday for the final home game of the season. A win on Saturday would clinch a spot in the SCIAC Tournament.
