ORANGE, Calif.— Chapman women's water polo dominated on senior day, defeating SCIAC opponent La Verne 13-5 at home Saturday afternoon.
The day started off with honoring graduating student athletes:
Zoey Francis,
Ruthie Lax,
Annika Lindberg and
Nicole Inoue. Family, friends and loved ones joined their seniors on deck pre-game for the ceremonies.
In game, Chapman made sure to clinch the crucial win.
Zoey Francis gave up just five goals, had a game high six steals to go along with five blocks. Offensively,
Kendall Pappan led the way yet again, as the junior netted a game high four goals on seven shots. Sophomore
Nina Bastick had her best game of the season, netting a career-high three goals to go along with three steals.
Annie Nadolski added another two goals while Pappan contributed another three earned ejections. Heading into halftime, Chapman had a modest 6-2 lead after knocking several shots off the upper and side goal posts. They extended that lead to 10-4 after three quarters.
Francis continues her dominant season, now amassing 165 saves on the year, good for first in the SCIAC and ranking her top 10 nationally. Lax also had a solid showing with a goal, a steal and an earned ejection. Overall, Chapman held La Verne to just 16 shots to their 35.
The Panthers will look to maintain their momentum into their final regular season home game of 2026. Chapman hosts Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday, April 1 at 7 PM.
